Bulk sand on this site starts at 1,600 kg/m³, about 1.35 short tons per cubic yard. That is the same start as clean gravel, and it is not a claim that sand and #57 are the same material. Pool sand, paver sand, and bedding sand are separate pages because the shape and the depth change, not because each one has a secret density.
Pavers live here with the bedding sand. The gravel under the pavers stays on the gravel hub. A retaining wall is here too: the block or timber face is this calculator, and backfill is the soil line below it. The same page counts a buried course, caps, and the drainage stone behind the face. Mulch is sold by the yard and the bag and does not use a kg/m³ default. Joint sand, a lawn of sod, landscape fabric, and edging are separate counts on this hub. They are not the bedding sand, the mulch yard, or the topsoil yard.
